Makeup Geek Eyeshadow Collection

Hello lovelies!

I am going to share with you my Makeup Geek Eyeshadows (MUG) collection. I have placed two orders of Makeup Geek shadows so far and will definitely be making more orders. I absolutely love MUG eyeshadows they are amazing quality eyeshadows for a reasonably affordable price.  I also love the idea that you are able to build your own palette which means you will love and use all the shadows, so no wastage!

My collection so far L-R: First Row: Corrupt, Mocha, Bitten, Cocoa Bear, Latte, Creme Brûlée, Glamourous. Second Row:  Drama Queen, Prom Night, Unexpected,  Desert Sand, Peach Smoothie, Vanilla Bean, Shimma Shimma. Third Row: Grandstand, Magic Act, In The Spotlight, Whimsical (all foiled) and Shore Thing.

They cost $6-$10 ($8-$14 AUD) for each pan which in my opinions isn’t too bad for such great products. For all my Aussie readers we are unlucky with the exchange rate at the moment, if the exchange rate was better I would own the whole collection of MUG Shadows!  But they are still worth the extra dollars 🙂

MUG have a great range of neutral eyeshadows and also more bold and bright eyeshadows. I am all about them neutral colours so as you can see by my collection 😉 ha.

I own 15 normal eyeshadows and 4 of the foiled eye shadows.

All the eyeshadows blend out so easily and have a great colour payoff, you don’t need to use much of the product to get a pigmented look which means the eyeshadows will last longer! They do have little fall out so I would recommend if doing a dramatic eye to do your eyeshadow before your foundation.

Their foiled eyeshadows are insane! The pigmentation is incredible, they look amazing on and photograph well. The shadows are so buttery and have very little if any fallout. I find applying the foiled eyeshadows with your finger gives the best colour payoff.

TOP: Magic Act, In The Spotlight BOTTOM: Grandstand, Whimsical

Swatches of foiled Eyeshadows L-R: Grandstand, Magic Act, In The Spotlight, Whimsical.

My most reached for eyeshadows from my collection are:

  • Peach Smoothie
  • Creme Brûlée
  • Cocoa Bear
  • Latte
  • Shimma shimma
  • Grandstand (foiled)

MUG eyeshadows can only be purchased directly from Makeup Geek Website:

RCMA VK#11 Shinto Foundation palette review

Hello lovely people!

Today I am going to talk about the most versatile product in my makeup kit..  My RCMA VK#11 Shinto Foundation palette. I cant rave about this product enough, I use it on myself and also on 90% of my clients. Having 18 shades it is perfect for my freelance kit as I can mix the shades to always have the perfect colour for my client.  RCMA foundation is considered the top choice for professionals everywhere and a staple in MUA’s kits.

Why I love the product:

  • Can be used for foundation, cream contouring & highlighting and concealing
  • Made with a 50% pigment ratio to waxes and oils for high coverage with little product
  • Contains only vegetable oils, pure waxes and FDA approved colors
  • No perfumes or lanolin (allergens)
  • Applies like a second skin, rather than a heavy coat of foundation
  • Long lasting coverage with little-to-no touch-up
  • No caking or separating

I know the product can be a little overwhelming at first glance but trust me it is super easy to use. I scrap out a tiny amount onto either my metal mixing palette or my hand and I warm the product up by mixing it. I prefer to apply the foundation with a damp beauty sponge as I find it blends the product out the best. As mentioned above you don’t need much of the product to achieve a full coverage, if you are wanting a light coverage you can mix a little bit of moisturiser in with the foundation and apply it as you would normally.

This foundation honestly looks amazing and so natural on everyones skin from young girls to mature age and blends out so easily. The product can also be layered up as well without looking to heavy on the skin!

Below are pictures of how I cream contour and highlight with the product and the result it gives me. I apply the cream contour and hightlight ontop of a thin coat of foundation from the palette and it blends out super easy and doesn’t cake up at all.

This particular foundation palette RRP $99.14 and is 100% worth the money.

RCMA have a large range of products available they also sell 60+ individual shades of their foundation, 5 part series foundation palettes, highlight and contouring palette and loose powders.

I definitely recommend checking out their products and trying their foundation. I have just made a large order for more of the products for myself and for my kit.

I purchase all my RCMA products from Camera Ready Cosmetics as they were the cheapest and had the largest range available.

I hope you have enjoyed this post, thank you for reading!

My skincare routine

Skin care is extremely important;  I have become obsessed with looking after my skin and treating it with love.  Skin care is also an important part of achieving flawless makeup!

Over the last year I have tested a large range of brands and products to find my perfect match; I finally have!  Although all the products I use aren’t from the same brand they work perfectly together. I have normal – dry skin and suffer from redness and uneven skin tone.

The first brand of skincare I am going to talk about is Clinique, Clinique is an allergy and fragrance free product range. It was actually developed by a dermatologist and was only sold in clinics until they branched out and is now sold in Myer.

I use Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturising Lotion+  every day and ever night.  I LOVE this moisturiser. It is thin in texture but feels rich on the skin, it makes my skin super hydrated and gives me a nice healthy glow.

I also us Clinique’s clarifying lotion 2 (toner) morning and night. I apply a small drop to a cotton pad and swipe it onto my face mainly focusing on my T-zone. This is a strong toner and did take me a while to get used to, but once I did I was in love!  It works perfectly for my skin and I feel so fresh after using it.

The second brand of skincare I am going to talk about is ASAP. This brand is relatively new to me but as soon as I started using their products I was in love and it has now found a spot in my every day skin care routine.   ASAP skincare is 100% Australian owned and produced which is a huge plus for me, I love supporting local.   I was lucky enough to be sent their products from RY.com.au  when we were linked though Shopping Links – so a huge thank you!

*please note all opinions are my own*

I use their daily facial cleanser every morning and night. I apply it to wet skin and massage for 30-40 seconds. I love this cleanser it removes all my makeup and all the built up dirt and oils on my face and doesn’t dry out my skin at all unlike other cleanser I have used. The cleanser is oil free, non pore clogging and contains white tea, a powerful antioxidant with anti-ageing properties.  The texture of the cleanser is quite runny.

The second products from the ASAP’s skin care range I use is their daily exfoliating scrub. Although this is a daily scrub I only use it every second night. I apply to wet skin after cleansing and massage gently for 30 seconds. This is a very gentle exfoliating scrub it contains smooth round biodegradable beads which remove dead skin cells and exfoliate the skin.  It is important you exfoliate your skin to promote cell renewal and stimulate collagen, improving the appearance and texture of your skin.

The final product I use is ASAP’s Super b Complex Serum.  I cant praise this product enough, its a must have in my skin care collection.  I struggle with redness and uneven skin tone and this products helps reduce the appearance of these issues and boosts my skins hydration.  This serum contains high concentration of Vitamin B3 which aids in boosting collagen production. I use this before I moisturiser only once a day!

I am super happy with how clear and hydrated my skin is since using all these products and honestly can’t praise them enough.  Finding a skin care routine that works for you is extremely important, using the wrong products for your skin type is a HUGE no! It is worth taking the time to learn your skin type and use the appropriate products.

If you are wanting to purchase any of the products I have mentioned you are able to purchase all Clinique products from the Clinique counter at your local Myer and you can purchase ASAP skin care from Ry.com.au

L.A Girl Pro Conceal; Review and Swatches!

I finally got my hands on some L.A Girl concealers. They have been at the top of my wish list for such a long time! They are extremely affordable and I purchased mine from an Australian website for $7.95 each, but you can by them from websites outside of Australia for around $5.

L-R Classic Ivory, Natural, Creamy Beige, Almond and Expresso

I picked up the colours:

  • Classic Ivory – Light with pink undertones
  • Natural – Light with neutral undertones
  • Creamy Beige-  Light with yellow undertones
  • Almond – Tan with warm undertones
  • Expresso – Dark with cool undertones

The look of these products is quite basic but I like it. The concealers come with a brush applicator which I am not a huge fan of, I prefer to squeeze some product out on my mixing palette and then apply to my face with a brush so I have more control of how much product is used. Like usual I blend out the concealer with a damp blending sponge which makes it flawless!

The consistency of the concealer is thick and is completely full coverage.  The concealers cover any imperfection you have and works well to cover redness/darkness under your eyes. These concealers are also amazing to cream contour and highlight with and are also super easy to blend out.

L-R : Classic Ivory, Natural, Creamy Beige, Almond and Expresso

I haven’t experienced any creasing with these products and they have great longevity!

I would definitely recommend trying these concealers if you are after a full coverage concealer or if you are looking for some affordable products to cream contour and highlight with.

Please note If you are not a fan of full coverage concealers then these wouldn’t be for you.

Let me know if you have tried these concealers and what your thoughts are in the comments 🙂

The must have contouring and highlighting product for all beginners!

New to contouring and not 100% sure how it is done? Well fear no more… As Designer Brands have released a super affordable, easy to use and versatile contouring kit.

Shades L-R ; Banana (highlighting), Dark Brown (contouring) , Shimmer (illuminating)

Costing only $9.99 and containing 3 colours it is ideal for anyone from beginner to expert. It also comes with instructions on the back!

I will talk to you step by step about how to use this palette and how to contour and highlight in general;

Banana highlighting Shade – Set under eye concealer to brighten your complexion. Also apply to the forehead, bridge of nose and brown bone.

Dark Brown Contouring Shade – To add dimension to your face – You apply this to where you naturally would have shadows and to where you want to slim down your features.  Under your cheek bones, down the sides of your nose, to your temples and under your chin.  please note you do not have to contour all these places, just where ever you desire!

Illuminating shade –  You use this shade to illuminate your face and bring a glow to it. Apply it on the tops of your cheekbones, down the bridge of your nose and your cupids bow.  I also apply it very sparingly to my chin and also my forehead but that is personal preference.

Now you know how to use it I will talk to you a little more about the quality of the product. The shadows aren’t extremely pigmented which is what I like when contouring as you can always add more makeup but it is very difficult to take it away once applied without ruining the whole face of makeup. The shades are very build able though which is great!

The banana shade does an excellent job at brightening under my eyes and setting my concelar all day without creasing – So a huge plus there!  The texture of the powder is also very nice and settles on the skin looking natural.

The contouring shade is a great universal shade which is perfect for chiselling out your cheekbones.  It is quite a creamy, velvety powder!

The illuminating shade is a beautiful shimmery highlight – It isn’t as pigmented as I like my illuminators but it can defiantly be built up. I need to apply it around 2-3 times to get my desired look. The powder is fine texture and isn’t too chunky as you get with some highlighting powders.

I would 100% recommend you purchase this product as like I mentioned before it is only $9.99 and does an amazing job!!  Even better than some of my high ends products I have used.  It is a small and compact kit which is easy to take with you in a makeup bag when travelling, it also has a large mirror in it which I love!

This little beauty has earned its self a place in my freelancing kit, that is how much I am impressed by it.

I hope you have enjoyed my post and don’t forget to head over and follow me on other social media for ore posts and updates.

MAC Mineralize Skin Finish – Soft and Gentle review

I have been so in love with my highlighter; Mary-Lou Manizer by The balm for the longest time that I never cared to try any other highlighter…   But with great sadness I hit pan on the Mary-Lou Manizer 😦

So I decided it was time for me to venture out and try a new highlighter,  I picked up MAC mineralize skin finish in soft and gentle as I had heard some good things about the product.

I am one of those girls who LOVES themselves a good highlight and do go a little over the top sometimes and end up looking like a disco ball…. oops hehe.

I love the packaging of MAC products – Black with silver writing.  I think its simple yet sophisticated.  I also love the window compact so you are able to see the gorgeous highlighter.

It cost me $47 and contains 10g of product 🙂

When I first swatched the highlighter I knew it was the beginning of a beautiful friendship 😉 haha.  The product is extremely pigmented so a little goes a long way!

The colour is described as a “gilded peach bronze” and is a warm tone.  There is also a champagne colour mixed through.  The highlighter comes off as a frosted sheen on the skin (super stunning).

This highlighter gives your skin such a healthy glow and really does look amazing on, just make sure to apply with a light hand as I mentioned before its extremely pigmented! It also goes with any makeup look you create and is suited for all skin tones.

I cant believe I didn’t have this product in my collection until now?! I am sorry to say Mary-Lou but you have been replaced… My new holy grail highlighter is now Mac mineralize skin finish; soft and gentle.

If you don’t already own this highlighter then girl you are missing out! Get onto it now 🙂

Thank you so much for reading and I hope you enjoyed this post.

Rimmel lasting finish 25 Hour Foundation review!

Hey babes!

Today I will be reviewing for you Rimmel London lasting finish 25 Hour Foundation with comfort serum.

  The foundation claims:

-Instant perfect coverage that feels extra comfortable and lasts all day

– Blends flawlessly, seamlessly, instantly and easily into the skin

– Sweat, heat, humidity and transfer proof for up to 25 hours

I have been trying this foundation now for over a weak so I could test out all of these claims and give you the best possible review of the foundation.  I purchased the foundation from my local Woolworths when they had there 1/2 price sale on all Rimmel London products, I ended up paying around $9 (bargain).

I applied the foundation with my Real Techniques buffing brush and my Chi Chi Cosmetics Make-Up blending sponge and both of them apply the foundation effortless and perfectly. They are right when they say the foundation blends flawlessly, seamlessly, instantly and easily into the skin! The foundation is full coverage so I prefer using the foundation sponge as it gives you a more natural and glowing look, but you get a better coverage using the buffing brush so it is personal preference which tool you use.

It claims it will last 25 hours but lets be honest who will be wearing foundation for 25 hours?!  Not me that’s for sure!! I apply my foundation for work at 7.30am in the morning and don’t shower and take it off until at least 7.30pm at night.  So I need a foundation that will last at least 12 hours….     I have to touch up this foundation up around lunchtime with a bit of powder just around my nose as it goes a little oily but I get that with most foundations. Apart from that when I get home from work the foundation is still looking flawless and hasn’t gone patchy, or slipped of my face. (I have normal-oily skin by the way) so I am incredibly impressed.

I went for a long walk to test if it its sweat proof and sadly it did move a little on my forehead nothing too noticeable though.. but everywhere else still looked perfect! The foundation does transfer a little as well.  I was unable to test if it was humidity proof because I live in Tasmania and it has been frezzing!! 😛

Overall I am extremely impressed with this foundation… It is defiantly in my top 3 favorite foundations! It is extremely affordable, gives amazing coverage while still looking natural and healthy.  The lasting power defiantly impressed me as well. I would recommend this foundation!

Thanks for reading,

Much Love xxx
