My go to special occasion eye makeup

Hi everyone!

I am back with another makeup post, today I will be writing about my go to special occasion eye makeup. This is the look I will always create when I am unsure what look to go for but I want to look glam.  It’s quick and also easy to do!

It’s a basic smoked out wing with some glam lashes.

I always do my eyes first when doing this look as I will be using black eyeshadow and don’t want any fall out on my foundation.  I prime my eyes with Mac paint pot in “Painterlilly” and set this with translucent powder. This sets up a flawless base and pro longs the wear of the eyeshadow.  To get the sharp wing I use the trick of sticky tape! This is the best hack for makeup I think haha. I cut a small piece of tape and place it on the outer corners of my eyes pointing towards the end of my eyebrows to give me a straight and sharp line.

As mentioned earlier this look is very simple I only use four eyeshadow colours all from Makeup Geek. I firstly take “Peach Smoothie” and I blend this all through my crease. After this I take “Cocoa Bear” on a smaller blending brush and focus this more on the outer corner of my eye but still blending slightly into the crease. It is then time for the black eyeshadow I use a small precision brush and place the colour “Corrupt” directly on the outer corner creating a wing. I start to blend the black with “Cocoa Bear” to give the smoked out look. I will go in again with “Corrupt” on an angled brush now and draw a more precise wing along the line of the sticky tape. I finish off the blending process by taking “peach smoothie” through the crease one more time to make sure it’s all seamless. The last eyeshadow I use is “Shimmer Shimmer” as a brow bone and inner corner highlight.  I then pull off the tape and have the perfect smoked out wing!

As I will be wearing false lashes I do a small line of eyeliner on my upper lash line to hide the band. I use Mayebelline Hyper Sharp Wing Eyeliner for this as it has a small felt tip and is super easy to apply.  The eyelashes I am wearing on this particular occasion are MODELROCK #236 but I will wear any lashes from MODELROCK my favourites are : #236, #212 & #259.

To balance out the look I will apply some eyeshadow to the lower lash line. I start by putting “Corrupt” into my water line as this will make your eyes pop! I smoke this out with “Cocoa Bear” on a small definer brush and keep this really close to the lash line. Lastly I use “Peach Smoothie” on a large blending brush and blend both the colours. To finish of the look I will apply a couple of layers of black mascara to the lower lashes, I pack this on quite heavy! I used BenefitThey’re Real”. That is the eye look completed!

As I have done this on many occasions now it only usually takes me around 10 minutes and I think it looks amazing and makes my blue eyes standout. It also suits any lip colour as the colours are all very neutral, in the pictures I am wearing “Snob” by Mac

My Everyday 15 Makeup Routine – Spring Edition

All Products Used

Hi everyone! Long time no talk, I have missed posting on here so much and as today is a public holiday here in Launceston I thought I would take advantage of it and write a well overdue blog post.  Today I am writing about my updated every day 15 minute makeup routine!  I personally don’t have much time in the morning to apply my makeup before work so all the products I use are quick to apply and versatile. I also go for long wearing products as I am at work from 8am-5:30pm.

After I have applied all my skin care I go straight in with my foundation – Maybelline Fit Me Matte & Poreless. This is honesty my HG foundation, it looks amazing on th skin, keeping it looking as natural as possible while having a full coverage. I apply this with my Chi Chi Cosmetics blending sponge. I find this is the quickest and best way to apply my foundation and to be honest I never apply my foundation with anything other than this sponge.

I then do my brows while the foundation dries and sinks into the skin.  I use Poni Cosmetics Brow Brush and a powder from Booki Brow. I don’t need to do much to my brows as I get them threaded and tinted regularly. I usually only spend 1-2 minutes on my brows!  I go back to my skin and start bronzing myself up to look sun kissed and healthy. I use Too Faced Chocolate Soilel in Medium-Dark. This is a smooth bronzer which blends out very quickly! I also use this bronzer for eyeshadow and blend it through my crease with a large fluffy brush, this literally only takes a minute and makes a world of difference to my overall makeup look! I then grab whatever mascara I am loving and at the moment I am using Poni Cosmetics – White Knight Mascara. This is a great mascara as it has the two wands, one for length and one for volume. I apply a layer of each on both eyes and I apply this generously! I cannot live without mascara it opens your eyes up so much and makes you look more awake.

Final Look- Close up brows and eyes

To finish off the skin I use some highlighter on the tops of my cheekbones and also down the bridge of my nose.  I use Moonstone by Becca and I find this gives you a nice glow without being too over the top for everyday wear.  I finish the whole look by spraying my face with a setting spray from Maybelline – Master Fix. This settles any powder I have applied and melts it into my skin to look more natural and also sets my face for the whole day.

And voila … That is my everyday look complete!  On my lips I’ll just use whatever lip balm I have on me or a butter gloss from NYX in either Creme Bruleè or Eclair.  A little tip from me – If you need to touch up throughout the day  just use the beauty sponge you applied your foundation with. This soaks up any oils and it will have some foundation on it still so it will fix the coverage without caking your skin.

Final Look

I hope you have enjoyed this post and stay tuned as I will be posting a lot more! I also have some exciting news which I will talk to you all about soon.

My Lip Injection Experience

Hello lovely people!

After months and months of contemplating getting lip injections I finally put the phobia of needles aside, did some research and made it happen.
Living in Launceston, Tasmania there are not many places you are able to go and get this treatment done so I was looking at going interstate until I found out one of my favourite beauty salons Vogue at The Charles actually had a very professional and experienced Nurse Injector travel down once a month from her salon in Sydney to do non-surgical facial treatments. I was wrapped I could get it done locally! I have been to Vogue on numerous occasions for a few different treatments and I can not fault their quality of service and attention to detail.

I was pretty nervous after arriving at Vogue but after meeting my nurse Francine Ithier  (Owner of Miss Franc) my nerves had calmed a little.  She did a consultation with me and I spoke about what I wanted and what I did and didn’t like. We decided I would go for 1ml of Juverderm and she would even out my lips and give me a more plump look. After this Fran applied a numbing cream to my lips and I sat back and relaxed for around 15 minutes while the cream kicked in!

The whole process of Fran actually doing the injections lasted only around 10 mins.  As mentioned I do have a phobia of needles so I sat there with my eyes closed the whole time she was doing the injections haha. I did take one of my best friends and she held my hand the whole time!  Pain wise, you can still feel the needles its a pinch and a bit of a sting but nothing unbearable, the worst is the first couple of needles on your top lip.  I would recommend not wearing any makeup there as mine was completely ruined by the numbing cream and then by my eyes watering!

First glance in the mirror after the injections, to be completly honest, I wasn’t sure what to think. My lips looked totally different and it was a pretty big change so prepare yourself for that. I wasn’t in pain after they were done they just felt swollen and it was a little uncomfortable to eat and drink at first. The following 3 days I experienced a lot of swelling and bruising. I was able to cover all the bruising with makeup though.

I have attached an image of my lips during the recovery, you will be able to see all the swelling in the top image especially on my top lip this was one day after. The second image was taken the following day you can see the bruising had come out a lot more, mainly on my top lip again. The bottom image was taken 5 days after the treatment with lipstick applied, I still had slight swelling on the top lip.  I would say it took a bit over a week for all the swelling to completely go down and for the lips to settle and let you see the shape.  There was hardly any pain while the lips were recovering,  my lips just felt tight and they were a little dry so I would recommend investing in some pawpaw if you are looking at getting them done.

I am so happy with the results that Fran has achieved with my lips.  I think she had done a great job of evening them out, adding more volume and still maintaining a natural look.  I am interested to see how long the fillers last as the first time they usually go down a lot quicker and need touching up so I will keep you all updated!  I have had a couple friends of mine who have had their lips done by Fran and they all extremely happy with them also, so I would 100% recommend Fran & Vogue.  I have attached links below to both of their websites if you are wanting to do any research or know any more information.

10 minute makeup routine for a busy lifestyle!

Mornings are not a good time for me, I am always rushing around trying to get organised before work and have little to no time to do my makeup…

I know I wouldn’t be the only one in this boat so I thought I would share with you my quick 10 minute makeup routine for all you busy ladies with little time to get ready!

All products used

My biggest tip to reduce the time you spend doing your makeup is to use versatile products, products that can be used for more than one thing.  Trust me it actually saves you a lot of time!

The number one product I recommend and the star of my 10 minute routine is Mineral Powder foundation, this saves you a lot of time as it covers, conceals and doesn’t need setting with any additional product.  I buff it into my moisturized skin and can achieve a natural – full coverage depending on how many layers I do. I normally tend to do one full layer and then a second layer on my checks and nose. When using mineral powder foundation a little goes a long!

I use Mineral X Factor powder foundation and it is an amazing product, it lasts all day without needing a touch up. This product is sold locally at Mint Relax Revive Salon in Launceston and is also sold online at  www.mineralxfactor.com.au

* If you have dark under eye circles I recommend adding a little concealer first and setting with a translucent powder*

Mineral X Factor – powder foundation

The Second product is a warm bronzer;  I used Too Faced Chocolate Soleil and warm up the perimeter of my face. I apply it on my forehead, temples, cheeks and jawline. Basically you draw a number 3 shape down your face. I also use my bronzer to define my eyes, I run the product through the crease and along the lower lash line. Bronzer is a very versatile product and remember versatile products save you time!

In my opinion every makeup routine should include blush, it adds colour back to your face and is very youthful.  I opt for a shimmery illuminating blush as it adds colour and also a natural sheen to your skin.  I use Bahama Mama from the Balm or Maybelline FitMe blush in “nude”.

I am obsessed with real glowy skin and can’t go a day without being smothered in highlighter!  So of course I need to include Mary-Loumanizer by TheBalm in my 10 minute makeup routine.  Also this product is versatile as it can be used as a brow bone highlight and to highlight the inner corner of your eyes.

As you are all aware eyebrows are all the rage right now, so if you aren’t lucky enough to have naturally full brows you may need to fill them in. I need to fill mine in everyday and I am currently using Chi Chi cosmetics Brow Pomade in “Dark” this product sets in place after it dries and wont move all day.

When choosing my mascara I opt for one which will curl my lashes as well as define and add volume! At the moment I am using Maybelline “Volume Express The Colossal Mascara” and I absolutely love it . You can also line your bottom waterline and make it look like you have applied eyeliner just by gently rubbing your mascara wand on your lash line when applying the mascara!

Lastly for the lips I use a tinted lip gloss. I am currently obsessing over NYX butter glosses!  My favourite shades are “Eclair” and “Madeline”  they smell so good and are perfect for a quick application.

And there you have it… All the products I use in my 10 minute makeup routine!

Look created

This is the final look, natural but still enough to make me look awake and ready to start the day!

I hope you have enjoyed this post and thank you so much for reading.

Much love,

xxxx

Makeup Geek Eyeshadow Collection

Hello lovelies!

I am going to share with you my Makeup Geek Eyeshadows (MUG) collection. I have placed two orders of Makeup Geek shadows so far and will definitely be making more orders. I absolutely love MUG eyeshadows they are amazing quality eyeshadows for a reasonably affordable price.  I also love the idea that you are able to build your own palette which means you will love and use all the shadows, so no wastage!

My collection so far L-R: First Row: Corrupt, Mocha, Bitten, Cocoa Bear, Latte, Creme Brûlée, Glamourous. Second Row:  Drama Queen, Prom Night, Unexpected,  Desert Sand, Peach Smoothie, Vanilla Bean, Shimma Shimma. Third Row: Grandstand, Magic Act, In The Spotlight, Whimsical (all foiled) and Shore Thing.

They cost $6-$10 ($8-$14 AUD) for each pan which in my opinions isn’t too bad for such great products. For all my Aussie readers we are unlucky with the exchange rate at the moment, if the exchange rate was better I would own the whole collection of MUG Shadows!  But they are still worth the extra dollars 🙂

MUG have a great range of neutral eyeshadows and also more bold and bright eyeshadows. I am all about them neutral colours so as you can see by my collection 😉 ha.

I own 15 normal eyeshadows and 4 of the foiled eye shadows.

All the eyeshadows blend out so easily and have a great colour payoff, you don’t need to use much of the product to get a pigmented look which means the eyeshadows will last longer! They do have little fall out so I would recommend if doing a dramatic eye to do your eyeshadow before your foundation.

Their foiled eyeshadows are insane! The pigmentation is incredible, they look amazing on and photograph well. The shadows are so buttery and have very little if any fallout. I find applying the foiled eyeshadows with your finger gives the best colour payoff.

TOP: Magic Act, In The Spotlight BOTTOM: Grandstand, Whimsical

Swatches of foiled Eyeshadows L-R: Grandstand, Magic Act, In The Spotlight, Whimsical.

My most reached for eyeshadows from my collection are:

  • Peach Smoothie
  • Creme Brûlée
  • Cocoa Bear
  • Latte
  • Shimma shimma
  • Grandstand (foiled)

MUG eyeshadows can only be purchased directly from Makeup Geek Website:

Maybelline FIT ME “Matte and Poreless”Foundation Review

Hello, hello!

Two words…. HOLY GRAIL, yup that’s right I have found my new holy grail foundation and its a matte foundation?! What…. Crazy, I know!

If you have been following my blog for a while you would know I LOVE dewy foundation and I would never usually pick up a matte foundation but on this rare occasion I did and I am so glad!

Maybelline Fit Me foundation – Matte and Poreless

The foundation claims it is;

Beyond matching skin tone, it fits your skin’s texture.

WHAT IT’S BEST FOR
  • Normal to oily skin.
  • Erasing pores.
  • Mattefying shine.

This foundation is amazing and I have been using it nearly every single day since I purchased the product!  It applies perfectly with my Chi Chi Cosmetics blending sponge, my Zoeva 102/ Silk Finish brush or my Sigma Duo Fibre brush. I use 2-3 drops of product to completely cover my face and give me a full, flawless coverage without looking cakey!

I have quite normal skin which does get a little oily over time so the foundation works well for me but I cant see this foundation working for people with dry skin as it has be known to cling to dry patches!

I apply my foundation 7:00am every morning and take my makeup off around 7:00pm at night – And the foundation wears almost perfectly for the entire 12 hours. I usually touch up a little after lunch time with my blending sponge just around my mouth, nose and hairline which isn’t absolutely necessary, I just like to!

The foundation also comes in a great colour range, I use the colour natural beige 220 and it matches my fake tan perfectly!  Retailing for $18.95 its also an affordable product. I purchased mine from Priceline but you are able to pick it up at Woolworths and Coles also.

I would 100% recommend trying this foundation out if you are after a new matte foundation or just wanting a change!  I am definitely going to be repurchasing  🙂

The must have contouring and highlighting product for all beginners!

New to contouring and not 100% sure how it is done? Well fear no more… As Designer Brands have released a super affordable, easy to use and versatile contouring kit.

Shades L-R ; Banana (highlighting), Dark Brown (contouring) , Shimmer (illuminating)

Costing only $9.99 and containing 3 colours it is ideal for anyone from beginner to expert. It also comes with instructions on the back!

I will talk to you step by step about how to use this palette and how to contour and highlight in general;

Banana highlighting Shade – Set under eye concealer to brighten your complexion. Also apply to the forehead, bridge of nose and brown bone.

Dark Brown Contouring Shade – To add dimension to your face – You apply this to where you naturally would have shadows and to where you want to slim down your features.  Under your cheek bones, down the sides of your nose, to your temples and under your chin.  please note you do not have to contour all these places, just where ever you desire!

Illuminating shade –  You use this shade to illuminate your face and bring a glow to it. Apply it on the tops of your cheekbones, down the bridge of your nose and your cupids bow.  I also apply it very sparingly to my chin and also my forehead but that is personal preference.

Now you know how to use it I will talk to you a little more about the quality of the product. The shadows aren’t extremely pigmented which is what I like when contouring as you can always add more makeup but it is very difficult to take it away once applied without ruining the whole face of makeup. The shades are very build able though which is great!

The banana shade does an excellent job at brightening under my eyes and setting my concelar all day without creasing – So a huge plus there!  The texture of the powder is also very nice and settles on the skin looking natural.

The contouring shade is a great universal shade which is perfect for chiselling out your cheekbones.  It is quite a creamy, velvety powder!

The illuminating shade is a beautiful shimmery highlight – It isn’t as pigmented as I like my illuminators but it can defiantly be built up. I need to apply it around 2-3 times to get my desired look. The powder is fine texture and isn’t too chunky as you get with some highlighting powders.

I would 100% recommend you purchase this product as like I mentioned before it is only $9.99 and does an amazing job!!  Even better than some of my high ends products I have used.  It is a small and compact kit which is easy to take with you in a makeup bag when travelling, it also has a large mirror in it which I love!

This little beauty has earned its self a place in my freelancing kit, that is how much I am impressed by it.

I hope you have enjoyed my post and don’t forget to head over and follow me on other social media for ore posts and updates.
